Beautiful Summit of Kedarkantha Trek PART: 1

Tell the story of the mountain you climbed. Your words could become a page in someone else’s survival guide. I Reshmi Nath , sharing my solo experience of my first winter trek, Kedarkantha in Sankari Uttrakhand. The trek was organized by the amazing Goclimbup team so well. I chose second week of December as the dates of departures as team suggested, it’d be a good time to expect snowfall.

I was travelling from Delhi, so boarded overnight bus from Kashmiri gate at 11:30 PM for Dehradun and reached Dehradun at 05:00 am. I booked bus from red bus, Bedi Travel’s, Laxmi Holiday is two of the best option. Else there would be an continues bus services from Kashmiri gate at every one hour. From Dehradun Goclimbup team picked me up along with other group members. They provided tempo traveller which was pretty good, and their response time was very good. Goclimbup is best option if you are traveling alone.

My short Itinerary:

Day-1- Dehradun to Sankri,

Day 2 -Sankri to Juda ka taal and stay at Juda ka taal camp. 3 km and 3-4 hrs depending up on the speed.

Day 3 -Juda ka Taal to Base Camp. 4 km 4-5 hours

Day 4 -Base camp to Summit. 8 Km

Day 5 – Base camp to Juda Ka Taal- 4km

Day 6- Juda ka Taal to Sankri- 4 km

Beautiful trek but not to confused with the popular Kedarnath Temple. This is a basic level trek for the beginner and for first timer who wants to experience Snow. But though I say it is for beginners, but preparation is mandatory because the snowflakes can be harsh 😊. It’s better to be go safe than sorry 😇
